14A – Halfway Reflection

Tenacity & Paying It Forward

Half semester ago, I was just like you, knowing nothing about entrepreneurship and tenacity. In my imagination, entrepreneurship is something only belong to successful business man, until I took this class. In this class, we learned very step to find problem and build up business, and also the tenaciousness.

Tenaciousness is a competency. I keep read at least 2 chapters every week to study about successful businessman or businesswoman. Before this class, I never have the habit of reading English book. This read habit itself is Tenaciousness to me.

Tenaciousness is also about attitude. During the exam weeks, keep reading is extreme hard for me to insist. After all day's studying, I was already exhausted and feel only like to go to bed. However, I know I need to keep reading as I scheduled. It's hard but I still made it to keep my reading progress during final week.

Three tips. 

1. Always keep your destination in mind.

2. Make detailed plan for future.

3. Read the story of successful entrepreneurs to learn from them.

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

During the reading of Coco Chanel by Lisa Chaney, I have a deeper understanding for Miss  Chanel both as an woman and as an entrepreneur. This bio reveals how Miss Chanel, as a entrepreneur, run her reputations and run her relationships. The part most surprised me is that the stories of Chanel, which used to inspired me a lot, turn out to be just “stories”. Moreover, in order to be more dramatic, Chanel tells many different versions of her stories. I admire how she build up an fashion empire and carefully operate the whole chain of fashion industry. She made Chanel such an milestone that lead a couple of centries. However, I don’t like how she made up her stories like her poor childhood and she independtly build up her fashion stores. Most of her career was favoring and successful. She exprienced war and survived. The mystery about how she survive also have many version. I think is it may related to her affires. After the war, her exprience became another story that she sold. 

What confused me is that Miss Chanel is not really what I thought what an independent successful business woman. She is dependable to man and make use of them to go further.
I want to ask her two question if I can:
How much do you willing to sacrifice for success?
If you can restart your life, will you make the same choice?
I think Miss Chanel does Hard by taking every opportunities to success. It is the biggest question for me: What do I want for my life? Will I make the same choice to Miss Chanel if I can?

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Sigment: Students who have desktop or laptop.

    Female who have a laptop

    On the first year at UF. Always need to change battery for wireless mouse. One day she had a exam and the mouse was dead because of battery. That's when she think she need a mouse never need to be charged. She did nothing. Complain to friends.

    Male who have a desktop

    Last year purchased a new set of devices and the wires were everywhere. And the headphone always need to be charged in the middle of a game. Then he think he need something more simple and easy to manage. He did nothing. Search information using Google.

    Male who have a gaming laptop

    He have a gaming wireless mouse, a gaming keyboard ,and a wireless headphone. All of them need USB port but his laptop only have 2 USB ports. When he need extra USB port for extra disk, he need to unplug the keyboard. It was 2 years ago he think he need some devices with single adapter. He brought a multi to one usb port but not very convenient. Search information using amazon.

    Summary

   They have demand for my product and will purchase it if it is good. It need to promote using social network and among people.

11A – Idea Napkin No. 1

1) Me. I am a information system student, and a game lover. I believe the uni adapter gaming set will become my second trying to the real business world. It will be a huge challenge but also a great opportunity to me.

2) What am I offering to customers? My product is a uni adapter wireless gaming set will wireless charging system, which will save space on desk and time for changing or charging battery.

3) Who Am I offering it to? High end gamer and high end personal computer user. They have high demand on high end devices.

4) Why do they care? The product will help the desk in organized and customer will never need to worried about battery. Customer will interested in this idea.

5) What are my core competencies?  No competitor have this kind of device for now and they can upgrade their devices step by step by changing part of it, but only in the same brand.

The whole idea is great and will be a Hugh success. The weakness of this idea is from huge device companies such as Logitech. The technology itself is easy and easy to copy.

8A – Solving The Problem

The gaming devices (mouse, keyboard, and headphone) nowadays are high performance and fancy. However, the mess of the wire of wired devices and charging problem of wireless devices cause gamers headache. Most devices need their own adapters and waste limited USB ports on PCs. 

My idea for solving the chargers of gaming devices is to charge every devices by a single mouse pad. The mouse pad should be large enough and powerful enough to hold and charge every devices together. Also, the mouse pad will be the single adapter for all devices, which need less USB ports. 

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1) Opportunity:

High performing gaming keyboard, mouse and headphone need separate adaptors and charging system. This cause waste of usb ports and extra charging station/cable.

2) Analysis

• The who: High-end Gamers
• The what: They are unable to easily, efficiently use and charge their gaming set
• The why: High performing gaming keyboard, mouse and headphone currently have no separate adaptors and charging system

3) Testing

• Testing the who: Do you have the need? Who do you think will have the need?
• Testing the what: Which device do you think need the uni adaptor and charger?
• Testing the why: What is the main reason you need this new product? 

4) Interview

Daming Wu

Strongly have the need of the new gaming set. Most gamer with high income will interested in this idea. All of the keyboard, mouse and headphone need the uni adaptor and charger. Want all my devices organized and always charged.

Xinxin Wu

Will buy this if it exist. Not a gamer. Like the shape of gaming device but hate to charge them. Need all of them having the same adaptor and charging station. Always want top-end devices.

Baoli Zhou

Not a gamer and not interested in this device. Traditional input devices are much enough to use. Won't buy.

Yu Zhang

Will buy the devices. Gamer and high end computer user will need it. Not play much but need good devices to enjoy coding. Need all device charged. 

Yanshun Xu

Not a gamer, won't interested in this device. Young people will like the idea. Don't want to buy expensive devices. 

5) Summarize

Besides of game, some people do not play that much also want this device for connivence. They like the idea of put the charger station together for every devices. Only young people interested in this idea.

6A – Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Opportunities from economic change:

1. The percentage of aged people in China is increasing rapidly (data from China Bureau of Statistic), a lot of aged population will need retirement home to be taken care of. My plan is to set up a retirement community in US. A friend of mine want to move his parents to US but they were afraid of being longly without friends in US because they can not speak good english. This community will provide the elder citizens from China better air, medical care and environment to enjoy their quality elder life. The target customers are elder rich Chinese who want to live in US either for better medical care or better life quality. I come from China and study in US, and I have friend who have interest in this idea, which make me the few people who have this idea.

2. There are a increasing foreign investment demand in China(data from China Bureau of Statistic). More and more people want to buy asset in foreign countries, especially US and Canada. My plan is to build up a real estate purchase network facing Chinese customer who is trying to purchase asset oversea.  The target customers are rich Chinese who want to purchase real estate oversea. I come from China and study in US, and I'm considering purchase a house in Florida, which make me the few people who have this idea.

Opportunities from regulation change:

1. As the trade agreement between US and China will be settle down soon, the protection in IP and trade mark will be reinforced in China to protect US companies. My idea is to set up and IP trading network to match the potential deal parties. The target customers will be the US companies who willing to lease or sell the IP and Chinese company who looking to purchase or use the IP. I come from China and study in US, and my dad was involved in an IP leasing agreement recently, which make me the few people who have this idea.

2. US government is closing up the border to Mexico. My idea is to build up a organization to protect the right of legal foreigners to be treated fairly. We will fight for the right of them. Our target customers are foreigners who affected by the new regulation and lose their lawful rights. As a foreigner I have sympathy with them and want to do something for them.
